   Lisseth Angel Pin

This angel pin was a part of our "Name the Angel Pin" Contest.  Here's the entry that won . . .

Lisseth is 5 years old, that was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) on March 24,2010. This is a rare cancer located in the Brainstem. About 200 children are diagnosed each year. After children are diagnosed, like Lisseth, they only have 9-12 months to enjoy life and make memories with their loved ones. There is no cure for DIPG, the only treatment available for these children is radiation therapy. So far, Chemotherapy has not been proven to help. Lisseth did receive 6 weeks of radiation on her clinical trial, which she then finished on August 22,2010. Lisseth had her MRI on February 04,2011,afterwords the doctors informed the family that the tumor had grown back. We are currently in another clinical trial. Please pray that this trial will kill the cancer cells. Lisseth has problems walking, therefore she has been crawling a lot more. Lisseth loves anything that has rainbows, butterflies, flowers and anything that glitters. Her favorite princess is Cinderella and her favorite color is pink. We have faith in God and pray that one day they will find a cure. We don’t want to see any child go through this. It is hard on the children and also on us as parents.
