it will be for my police academy classmate and fellow officer who is assigned patrol with me at the same station.  Last November, one of her twins, became very sick.  Alma figured that she was trying to fight off a bug that was "going around".  Unfortunately, her little girl's high fever caused her to have seizures, and she was rushed to a nearby emergency room.
Tests revealed that little Kaila did indeed have spinal meningitis, and was gravely ill.  Recognizing that she needed to be in a hospital that could better care for her, it was recommended that she be transported to a larger children's hospital about 25 miles away.  By the time she arrived, little Kaila had slipped into a coma.
Alma was told that she was "brain dead and that she was on life support.  It was the hardest decision that Alma and her husband Jim had to make-to remove their 4 year old daughter from life support.  Even harder, was telling little Kaila's twin brother Joey that his sister was now an angel in heaven.
Alma remembers how those babies were born premature and how she was told by doctors not to expect them to make it.  She asked God if she could "have just have one day" with them, and she was "lucky" to have been blessed with Kaila for four years.
