Guardian Angels
I
believe that every soul is assigned a guardian angel. Although this
is not specifically defined by the church it is a common belief in the
church. St. Jerome expressed it: "how great the dignity of the soul,
since each one has from his birth an angel commissioned to guard it." (Comm.
in Matt., xviii, lib. II).
The
bible teaches of guardian angels in the book of Matthew, where the disciples
ask Jesus which of them will be the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus' answer includes this verse, that confirms the existence of guardian
angels. . . "Beware that you don't look down upon a single one of
these little children. For I tell you that in heaven their angels have
constant access to My Father." (Matthew 18:10).
These
guardian angels do not lose the vision of God, they are in the constant
presence of God. The fact is, they have a mission to fulfill on earth,
through the souls that they have been assigned to.
Our
guardian angels can act upon our senses and upon our imaginations, but
guardian angels do not act upon our will. They act upon our intellect
and our imagination which in turn, could change our will. Guardian
Angels are not separated from us after death, but remain with us in heaven.
What
a wonderful day it will be to meet our Father and then meet the angel that
has guided us through this life here on earth.
