This angel was our April, 2012 Name the Angel Pin Contest.  Here's the entry that won the contest. . .

Chloe's EB is one the more rare forms of EB. The specialist in Cincinnati would not accept her because they said that Chloe has one of the most sever forms they have seen. I saw her GI Tract come out of her body at each diaper change.

Besides the EB, she had two other diseases. She had onset of a premature baby eye disease called ROT and a rare protein loss that made her body loss all her protein as well as not absorb any protein. Her doctor had only seen the protein loss  2 other times in her 40 years of being a NICU doctor.

She spent most of her short life in bandages.  She had to have septic work ups almost weekly.

The angel has a bow and Chloe and I always wore bows, we have had matching EB bows, and the nurses would use ribbon to make a bow in her bandages and on her oxygen hood when she had to have one.

Chloe was over a month old before she even wore clothing or even ate. She had to have surgery on her stomach, but she struggled to gain the weight for her surgery. She was 3 pounds 15 oz when she was born and she only gained about a pound when she passed away at 3 months and 20 days. She was failing to thrive and couldn't eat during her last month of life. She was given no hope from the day she was born, but most of the nurses and family and friends tried so hard to keep the faith and remain hopeful. People all over the country and over seas have followed Chloe and her fight with EB.

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a rare genetic skin disease that causes the skin to be so fragile that the slightest friction can cause severe blistering—inside and outside the body.

I have a poem called Butterflies and Bows that I wrote and this angle also has a bow.

Butterflies and Bows

This bow is not perfect
This bow was not made how I planned
This bow came to me, and I'm doing my best
This bow wont be perfect, but more beautiful than thought
This bow is a gift, a gift from above
This bow was made just out of love

This bow tells a story
a story indeed

About butterflies and Children
The Children were as a fragile as a butterfly
The bow saw theses children and wanted to see
The bow touched a child and a blister appeared.

The Child looked at the blister and then at the bow
The child wasn't angry, for the bow didn't know
The child told the bow
"You now understand what us butterfly children live with, go and spread the word so others may know"

This bow is not perfect
This bow was not made how I planned
This bow came to me, and I'm doing my best
This bow is helping me tell the story
of how My butterfly Child came to me
