The friends that know you when you're 18 and away from home for the 1st time are perhaps the best friends you will ever have.  They have seen you at your very best and worst.  As the years go by, the get-together's are like markers in time, weddings, births, turning 30, 40 and so on.  Last year our get-together was celebrated by one friend bringing "purple hats" for everyone.  "Let's put on our purple hats and have fun with life"....one of our friends, Susie Rice, passed away from cancer recently.  This pin is to honor her memory, for she truly loved the "purple hat" philosophy of life.
