Cowgirl Sierra Angel Pin
This angel was a Name the Angel
Pin Contest design, here's the entry that won.
I am adding to
my previous story in nominating my
granddaughter, Sierra, for this pin. SIERRA
was born a micro-preemie, weighing only 1
pound 4 ounces. She was just on the cusp of
survival. She struggled for many months,
through many problems and bouts of pneumonia,
before she finally got to go home from the
hospital at the age of 21 months. She was a
WARRIOR in fighting and overcoming so much.
She had so many problems with her lungs that
she had to have a tracheostomy and
necessitated a ventilator in order to
breath...and it was predicted that she might
need the ventilator until at least the age of
three or four. However, despite all her
problems, Sierra always had a smile and wanted
to play, learn and interact. When she finally
got to come home, she was progressing at such
a rapid rate...accomplishing benchmarks in her
development that she had struggled with in the
hospital. She had learned to sit up, and could
do so for two hours at a time, and she was
learning sign language so that she could
communicate with her family. She was a
beautiful baby, indeed. Unfortunately, she
became ill with diarrhea and dehydrated. The
cause will probably never be known, but I
believe it was a mis-prescribed
medication...probably an overdose...that
caused the diarrhea. Much damage was done to
her organs, and after three weeks doctors said
she would not recover. She passed away on the
14 JUL 2011. She was loved by so many people
who followed her story and prayed and hoped
for her full recovery. I miss my little
COWGIRL. She would be the perfect candidate to
receive this honor. Thank you for your
consideration and your votes! Grandma Lovie
