Catie Angel Pin
This angel was a custom design,
requested by Catie's Mom.
My name is Sheila and my youngest
daughter Catie, died of rhabdomyosarcoma ( a rare childhood cancer) 3 days after
Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, 2004. She was 9 years old. Catie was an incredibly
beautiful child. She was diagnosed at age 7 and fought this illness with
everything she had. She did everything we asked of her with a smile - much of it
was unpleasant. She went through 3 trials of chemo, 3 different types of
radiation, lost her hair, 4 surgeries in one year which left her unable to walk
with nerve damage. She stayed on the honor roll at school, until she left us.
She continued to sing in her church choir, was the star of the school Christmas
play in December 2003 (The Littlest Reindeer), was our girly girly princess
(even with no hair, she displayed her bald head proudly, we once saw an adult
female chemo patient with no hair, Catie went and gave her a hug. She thought it
was wonderful that another female would do that!) We miss her desperately, Her
Dad and she became very close over the last 2 and a half years as he spent much
time with her. Her 2 brothers and sister are missing her daily. I would love to
have an angel to remind everyone of her. I think my greatest fear now is that
she will be forgotten.
Thank you for listening.
